I'm now in Psychiatry posting. There are all sorts of interesting patient here. When I clerked depressed patient, I felt depressed. When I clerked a patient with schizophrenia, I thought I was going to "schizo" with him...

Meanwhile, this is a lazy posting, triggering my Type B personality. Haiz...orz..

A worth mentioning day

1st: Anaesthesia skill lab

I learnt a lot here...I learnt on intubation devices. Dr. Esa explained sooo clearly and I soooo understand...haha. I also learnt on the technique to intubate a patient using endotracheal tube. Very interesting, although I can only practice it on a mannequin. I love the doctors in anaesthesia posting, they guide and teach us a lot. We won't be wandering around 自生自灭.

2nd: Urology ward

My patient for my case write up during this short posting is a kind and talkative uncle. He had Diabetes Mellitus, but he liked to eat sweet food. During my clerking process, he showed me his 豆沙包. not one, but six. Of course, I started blabbering on him, asking him to control his diet. I said I want to throw those buns away for him. I was joking only, but he then said he wanted to give them all to me. I took them as he kept insisting. Sometimes, patients can be very cute.

3rd: Operation theatre

My supervisor, Dr. Liu was a very dedicated teacher. To be truthful, I liked being spoon-fed...hehe. He taught sooo many things, and I learnt soooo many things. One of it is calculating the amount of fluid needed by the patient. Previously, I was so blurred regarding this. But after his teaching session, I understood. Oohh...I like him very much!

4th: Taman Tasik Permaisuri

I was being forced by YuZhen to jog with her. I was so lazy already because it had been a busy day for me. Immediately after the teaching, I went to her room and borrowed tshirt, trousers, socks and sport shoes. Haha, this was so funny for me, I had never been like this in my life. Then, we went to Taman Tasik Permaisuri. This was my 1st time going there, although I had been staying here for more than 1 year. It was just opposite to the hospital. My stamina was really poor. I only ran a bit, then I was dead exhausted already...haha. So, I was left behind and I walked leisurely around the pretty park. In the end, it turned out to be a memorable experience. ^^

Help me, hives attack!

Since yesterday night, I was having itchiness at the back of both of my thighs. I thought it was due to my trousers, so I changed to another trousers, and continue to sleep. However, at the middle of the night, I woke up because of intense itchiness of the thighs. Scratch scratch there, scratch scratch here, and finally got up to apply Mopiko. However, it still itched. Ignoring it, I tried to sleep, and succeeded.

The next day, the itchiness lessened. I went to hospital as usual. However when I went back and took my bath in the evening, the sense of intense itchiness came back! Damn it...scratch scratch here, scratch scratch there. A phone call to my mum made me realised that maybe it was due to allergy. My mum also had that kind of itchiness before. I took a look at the area of itchiness. OH MY GOD, so ugly. Hives! My skin became like this:

A small area at my medial thigh. My arms looked worse.

I went to a nearby clinic as soon as possible. I could not stand the itchiness anymore. I scared it would become worse and became like this:

I was given antihistamines by the physician. Hope the attack resolved...I still feel itchiness now after taking the medication and applying cream on it. Sigh...

Fun with Fundoscopy

It was fun playing around with ophthalmoscope, especially when I can appreciate the findings. It was hard in the beginning, when I tried to perform fundoscopy in a correct technique and to appreciate what I saw. So, as the saying goes, practice makes perfect!

Express my feelings...

I ended my ENT posting, haha. Next week, I will embark on another small journey to the world of eyes next week...

During the last 3 weeks, I learnt a lot from Prof. Sani, he was the best supervisor I ever had. I was very blessed to have him as my supervisor.

I am very excited to enter ophtamalmology posting now....I had the spirit to see a lot of eyes, haha...I wanted to see as many patients as possible, and gained as much experience as I can.

I hope that I can have a supervisor like Prof. Sani later...then my ophthalmology posting would be more interesting and happy!

I had never felt like this before, being so excited to enter a new posting. Maybe this is because of going through the happy ENT posting.

Ophtalmology, here I come!
