Today's lab practical was quite interesting...lol
We were playing with one type of human waste products, stools!
I was thinking of letting others to do the demo, then I can just stood beside and watched them do the lab test...Unfortunately, everyone had to perform that lab test...sigh...
I wore the gloves tightly. I didn't want the stool to had any chance to "land" on my hand..lol
This test is simple though....smear the stool on the microscope slide which had some specific solution on it (saline, iodine, or ethanol)..Wondering how to smear the stool? Lol...use a stick (similar size with a match), mix the stool thoroughly with the end of the stick, and then just transfer the stool that is adhered at the end of the stick to the slide...
Simple, right?
I felt satisfied and proud of myself when I found an egg of the roundworm (Ascaris Lumbricoides) on the slide. =)
At the end of the lab practical, I go for aseptic hand-washing...I dont want to get infected by the parasites...

Mine lagi teruk...kena paksa find Ascaris, Trichuris and Hookworm sampai dapat. So, i end up inhaling the stool particle for about 2 hours. Not enough, we still have to do the fresh fecal smear for our family health. I think i got partially immune to the smell already. (Valerie T)
haha...I shall be feeling lucky then =)))
